5 for 5 - W6 Recap

A repeat of Week 5's poor record is not good, and I was pretty confident in Week 6... dang it.

Let's review:

Summary

1. Min -10 (Ari) - Push (27-17 Min)

2. Chi -3 (@ Mia) - Loss (31-28 Mia)

3. Cin -2.5 (Pit) - Loss (28-21 Pit)

4. Den +6.5 (LAR) - Win (23-20 LAR)

5. GB -9.5 (SF) - Loss (33-30 GB)

Recap

1. Min -10 (Ari) - Push (27-17 Min)

Min eventually went up 27-10 in the 3rd after trading turnovers and somewhat back and forth first half. It is worth noting that Ari had a short field FG and a fumble recovery for TD as their only points up until the 4th. Min eventually ran the clock out but only after allowing the backdoor push and going 3-and-out three straight drives in the late 3rd and 4th to allow Ari to have the chances to backdoor.

Min was not explosive passing, and Ari could hardly move the ball running or passing, but Min's run game was a highlight.

2. Chi -3 (@ Mia) - Loss (31-28 Mia)

Brock does it again... He needs a huge contract and given the starter role!

Dear lord, can't believe Brock won. It wasn't as bad as the Oak game where Mia's stats were brutal and were able to come with a couple of plays to swing the game. This game was very on the stat sheet plus Miami was able to break a few big plays to get close, then tie, and finally win in OT. It wasn't as bad as the Oak game where Mia's stats were brutal and were able to come

Chi's D seemed completely gassed by the heat and credit to Mia for giving Brock makable short passes and effectively neutralizing the rush. A big reason for the Chi pick was I figured they'd have a good chance to get ahead early (coming off bye, Nagy gives Trubisky a good script to start with) and then the pass rush crushes Brock. Well Chi was up by 11 with 6:50 left in the 3rd yet recorded 0 sacks. They did pick-off Brock twice, but the game was 3-3 in turnovers.

3. Cin -2.5 (Pit) - Loss (28-21 Pit)

Who in the world allowed Cin to leave that much time on the clock for Pit and was it the same or different person that screwed up the coverage to allow a free running Brown to job 30+ yards for the game-winning score. Oh, Marvin Lewis? The too good to be fired but never good enough to beat the top teams coach? Oh yes, that's right.

Regardless, I thought Cincy's Offense and Defense would be better. Pit played good and / or Cin might be coming down from their good play early in the season.

4. Den +6.5 (LAR) - Win (23-20 LAR)

Denver's inability to stop the run weirdly may be the most likely reason they were able to stay close. LAR was content to keep possession and run Gurley (208 yards, 2 TDs, 28 carries). The biggest lead was 17 points in the third and even as Denver pulled within 3 late, it never seemed like they had a chance as LAR kept them at arms reach and controlled the game, at least visually. LAR only had 35:10 time of possession, and I say only because it seemed like it could have been 40.

5. GB -9.5 (SF) - Loss (33-30 GB)

GB's defense is bad and a good offensive opponent picked them apart. I thought GB could run away with it with their WRs back, well Cobb and Allison still sat out leaving only Adams and the practice squad. GB was able tot still put up 33 but you cannot take big spreads with a bad defense. Bad job by me.
